Mitch Mitchell - Obituary

Mitch MitchellIt is with deep regret and sadness for Fenland Green Party to hear of the passing of our good friend and member Mitch Mitchell on 28 July 2020.

Mitch had dedicated his later years to humanitarian work and striving for social justice. He was highly respected amongst numerous groups, charities and organisations.

He made regular trips to Calais in France, helping to support homeless migrants and was part of the activist group 'Refugee Lifeboat'. He was regular helper for the homeless charity Crisis at Christmas. Mitch was also actively involved with numerous protest and support groups for equal rights and social justice that supported refugees and other migrants, women's rights and issues, transgender and LGBT rights and issues, trade unions, victims of Grenfell, housing, poverty and so on. He was anti-racism, anti-fascism, and held deeply strong socialist values.

Mitch was also the bass player and a long standing member of the 60's Rock and Roll band 'The Wild Angels' His first name was a closely guarded secret but will always be known to us as just Mitch.

Mitch was a humble man. He was kind, unassuming and well liked. He always had plenty to contribute to any discussion and from a position of being well informed. The contribution he made to his local Green Party will be sorely missed.

Keep on Rocking Mitch
